Rita Gay Davis Ulrich, 84, loved and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend peacefully went home to her Savior September 4, 2017 at home with family by her side.
Rita was born April 18, 1933 in Rolla, Kansas to Oleta Worthington and Marvin S. Davis. After moving to California for a year, the family moved to Colorado Springs in 1938 where they owned the Blue Lantern Restaurant in Old Colorado City for many years.
Rita attended Colorado Springs High School and Colorado College. While attending Colorado College she worked part time as a waitress at Frank's Grill where she met her eventual husband, Frank Ulrich. In 1954 Rita and Frank were married at First Methodist Church in Colorado Springs. On October 12th they would have celebrated 63 wonderful years together.
Rita was always involved in the family businesses. She was a member of La Sertoma and spent many hours and much energy volunteering for charitable causes. She was greatly involved in her children's education, volunteering as room mother, a teacher's aide, ran school carnivals, helped with track meets and was a PTA member. She loved giving her children birthday parties. She was an avid reader and especially interested in medical information about research, diseases and cures. She enjoyed her many vacations, especially her first one to Hawaii with family and friends, skiing in Colorado, bird watching and sunsets.
Family brought her great joy, lots of smiles and laughter. She is survived by her husband Frank Ulrich, children Cindy Mitton (husband: Dave) of Colorado Springs, Bryan Ulrich (wife: Ellen) of Denver, Jeffrey Ulrich (wife: Bonnie) of Colorado Springs, Brad Ulrich of Colorado Springs, her sister Juana Noble, grandchildren Stephanie Ulrich, Timothy Ulrich, Ashley Mitton, Dylan Ulrich, Ryan Ulrich, Amanda Ulrich, nieces, nephews and many special friends. She was proceeded in death by her sister Ella Marie Davis. Rita was a delightful person; she loved to entertain and maintained her warm sense of humor until the very end.
