KARKLIS, Rita
Rita was born in Poland, to German parents, on May 21st, 1922 and passed away peacefully April 15th, 2017 at Sunnycrest Nursing home in Whitby at the age of 94 years. Rita was predeceased by her husband Artur who she met in Germany and married in Michigan in 1957. The couple eventually settled in Etobicoke and took great pride in their home. In her early years Rita trained as a nurse in Germany and subsequently worked many years as a dedicated pediatric nurse at Sick Kids Hospital. Nursing was a profession which she adored. Although Rita had no children of her own, she was kind, attentive and generous to her extended family and friends in Poland, the United States and in Canada, and will be lovingly remembered by her niece Silvia and family, her late cousin Eleonore and family and many others. Interment of cremated remains will take place at GLENDALE MEMORIAL GARDENS (1810 Albion Rd., Etobicoke) on Thursday, May 11th at 11:00 a.m. Memorial donations to Sick Kids Foundation in Toronto would be greatly appreciated. Arrangements entrusted to OSHAWA FUNERAL HOME, 847 King Street West (905-721-1234).
