Rita M. Larkin, 91, of Manchester died October 1, 2011 at her residence with family members by her side following a period of declining health. She was born in Manchester on February 20, 1920, the daughter of Alfred and Mabel (Young) Richardson and had resided here most of her life. A dedicated homemaker, she had traveled extensively in support of her late husband, Lawrence B. Larkin, Sr.'s Naval career; residing in Hawaii, San Diego and Massachusetts prior to returning to Manchester. Rita M. Larkin, 91, of Manchester died October 1, 2011 at her residence with family members by her side following a period of declining health. She was born in Manchester on February 20, 1920, the daughter of Alfred and Mabel (Young) Richardson and had resided here most of her life.

A dedicated homemaker, she had traveled extensively in support of her late husband, Lawrence B. Larkin, Sr.'s Naval career; residing in Hawaii, San Diego and Massachusetts prior to returning to Manchester. In her younger days she was a talented cake decorator and along with her husband enjoyed the study of local history.

Family members include four sons, Lawrence B. Larkin, Jr. and his wife Judith of Rollinsford, NH, Richard Larkin of Manchester, Steven Larkin and his wife Stephanie of Manchester and David Larkin and his wife Virginia of Bedford; seven grandchildren, Claudia Larkin, Kerri Larkin, Kimberly Larkin and her husband Thomas Garrett, Brittany Larkin and her husband Seth Davenport, Kasey Larkin, Steven Larkin and Cullen Larkin; a sister, Elizabeth Tarlin of Newburyport, MA; three brothers, Jack Richardson of Plymouth, MA, Alfred Richardson of Manchester and David Richardson of Homosassa, FL; as well as several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, who died in 1996, she was pre-deceased by three sisters, Phyllis Hoitt, Margie Zekos and Lucille Hoitt and two brothers, Ed Richardson and Robert Richardson.

A celebration of life gathering was held on Thursday, October 13th from 5 to 7 PM in the McHugh Funeral Home, 283 Hanover St., corner of Beech St. Urn burial was on Friday, Oct. 14th at 11 AM in St. Joseph Cemetery, 448 Donald St., Bedford. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Rita's name to the VNA of Southern NH and Manchester, 33 So. Commercial St., Manchester NH 03101.
