Greensboro- Robert "Bob" Stevens, Jr. passed away on Tuesday, September 2, 2014 at Beacon Place.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, September 6, 2014, in the Chapel of First Presbyterian Church at 2:00 pm with Rev. Dolly Jacobs officiating. The family visitation will follow in the Blair Hagan room.
Bob was born December 1, 1941 in Kingsport, TN to the late Robert H. and Joan Martin Stevens. He graduated from East Tennessee State University and obtained his JD degree from the University of Tennessee College of Law. He was a corporate attorney with Burlington Industries for 17 years, and a partner in the firm Brooks, Stevens, and Pope in Cary, NC until his retirement in 2003.
Bob loved the outdoors and enjoyed backpacking, his 1960 MGA sports car, and his grandchildren. His favorite place to be was Disney World or anyplace with his family.
Bob is survived by his wife, Carol Painter Stevens; daughters, Sydney Stevens Butler and husband Kevin, Sarah Stevens and Anne Stevens all of Charleston, SC; grandchildren, William Riley Butler and Emerson Caroline Butler; brother, John M. Stevens; sisters, Kathryn Waldo, Christine Bowling and Anita Kowal; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family gratefully appreciates the kindness and care Bob received from the multiple medical professionals throughout the years of his illnesses. Bob's life was extended by a dozen years due to a kidney transplant from his youngest daughter in 2002. The Stevens family encourages everyone to consider organ donation.
In lieu of flowers, memorials should be made to the Hospice and Palliative Care of Greensboro, 2500 Summit Avenue Greensboro, NC 27405.
