Robert Foret Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Mar. 26, 2015.

Robert Allen Foret (Bobby) passed away on Wednesday, March 25, 2015 after a three month long battle with leukemia. He was 74. Beloved husband of Kathleen Ferro Foret for 51 years. Loving father of Bobby Foret, Jr. and Ann Marie Foret and brother of Theodore Foret, Jr. (Juie). Also survived by sister-in-law Marilyn Davis (Dave) and a host of nieces and nephews. Son of the late Theodore and Annie Foret and step-son of Ms. Corrine Foret. Bobby was born and raised in New Orleans and has lived in Metairie for the last 20 years. He was a marine surveyor and charter member of the Marine Surveyors Guild. Bobby attended St. Aloysius High School and Auburn University where he played football on scholarship. He was a true sportsman. In his younger days he loved playing and watching all forms of sports. In his later years his focus was on football, especially his Auburn Tigers, and the “ponies”. He spent many a Saturday at OTB with his running buddy Dave trying to pick the next big winner. He loved the outdoors, especially fishing where he enjoyed the solitude of the family camp in Grand Isle where fish stories were abundant. Bobby was a Man of Manresa. He will be dearly missed.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Memorial Mass at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home Chapel, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd., New Orleans, on Wednesday, April 1, 2015 at 1:00 PM. A visitation will be held at the funeral home from 11:00 AM until time of service. Interment will follow in Lake Lawn Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, local chapter Mississippi/Louisiana, 3636 South I-10 Service Rd., Ste. 304, Metairie, LA, 70001 (504) 837-0945, or via donate.lls.org.

Ann Marie Foret

Dear Daddy,

It is still hard to believe you are no longer with us. It feels as if your disease came and stole you from us like a thief in the night. Mom, Jr. and I are so sad.
The three months we spent by your side fighting will never be forgotten. In lieu of the pain and suffering we will remember the love and kind words we shared with one another. We feel truly blessed for that.
We are also grateful for the wonderful team of doctors, nurses and staff at East Jefferson Hospital who treated you with kindness and compassion throughout your stay. Too many names to mention but they know who they are.
We praise God and thank him everyday for taking you in a timely manner to your resting place in heaven where you no longer have to suffer.
You will FOREVER be in our hearts...

We love you to the moon and back Dad!
