Robert C. “Bob” Mueller, 87, of Harrisburg, passed away at his home, on October 15, 2016, surrounded by his family.
Funeral services will be held at Memorial Funeral Home on Tuesday, October 18, 2016 at 2 p.m. There will be a private family interment.
Bob was born on January 20, 1929 in Fayette, MO, the son of Carl George and Vivian Leona (Beasley) Mueller who preceded him in death. He was married on January 24, 1950 in Fulton, MO to Mildred Lorene (Level) who survives.
Bob enjoyed, above all else, spending time with Lorene, his high school sweetheart and wife of 66 years and his children, and great-grandchildren.
Community service and church service were very important to Bob. He was a Deacon in the Harrisburg Christian Church and could often be seen performing and supporting community service in Harrisburg.
Bob enjoyed life to its fullest. He enjoyed a cup of coffee and a good game of 4-point pitch, visiting with friends on the bench in front of C & S Grocery Store, and driving thousands of miles to attend Harrisburg Bulldog ballgames. In his younger days, he enjoyed competing in horseshoe pitching contests with his friends.
For over 40 years, Bob was the proprietor of Mueller Oil & Hardware, which operated a service station, gas delivery business and hardware store in Harrisburg, MO. He worked alongside his son, Loren and daughter, Pam, for many of those years. When he “retired” from the business, he became the rural letter carrier in Harrisburg for over 10 years.
Other survivors include: three children, Loren Mueller (Sandy) of Harrisburg, Pam Timmermann (John) of Harrisburg and Gail Fisher (Hal) of Harrisburg; 5 grandchildren: Dallas Timmermann, Houston Mueller (Michelle), Austin Mueller (Jessica), Kyle Fisher (Kelsey) & Ashley Fisher; and 4 great-grandchildren; Caroline, Claire, Charley Sue, Carl and one on the way. In addition to his parents, Bob was also preceded in death by his sister, Ruth Wilhite.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Harrisburg Cemetery Association or Harrisburg Bulldog Foundation (for the benefit of Harrisburg School district). All donations should be mailed: c/o Hal Fisher, CPA, 2510 W Ash, Columbia, MO 65203.
