Robert "Pete" Eldridge Adams, 85, of Collinsville, VA, passed away Tuesday, August 8 at Blue Ridge Rehab in Martinsville. He was born May 2, 1932 to the late Robert Lester Adams and Mattie Sue Franklin Adams.
He was a truck driver for Virginia Carolina Freight for many years and Bassett Fiberboard. He was of the Methodist Faith. He served in the Navy from 1952 to 1956 aboard the U.S.S. Zellars DD 777 and U.S.S. William E. Nash DD 714. He attended Bassett High School and a member of the American Legion of Bassett.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Nancy Adams Dehart.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Talitha (Ellis) Adams; one sister, Betty Adams Voss; and cousin, James Lewis Franklin and wife Louise Young Franklin, and numerous Philpott cousins.
A Visitation will be held at Collins Funeral Home, Bassett, Virginia, on Friday at 10:00 a.m. and a graveside service to follow at Henry Memorial Park at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Russ Gresham officiating.

So sorry to hear of Pete's passing. His dad and my grandmother were brother and sister, and after they both passed, it seems the families didn't get together for visits anymore. But I have always remembered how kind Pete and his sisters, and Uncle Lester and Aunt Mattie Sue were from our visits during my childhood. Condolences to Talitha and Betty. Across the miles, you are in my thoughts.
