Robert Ekstrom II, 54, of Vernon, CT, formerly of Pensacola and Panama City, FL, beloved husband of Theresa (McCready) Ekstrom for 22 years, entered into eternal peace Monday, November 28, 2016 at St. Francis Hospital in Hartford. The son of the late George and Bess (Dilley) Ekstrom, Robert was born and raised in Pensacola. He lived in Vernon since 2009 where he and Theresa raised their family. He was a Scheduler for Parsons Brinckerhoff and prior, had owned and operated his own construction company, Ekstrom Construction in Panama City, FL. He was recently baptized into the Catholic faith and was a communicant of St. Bernard Church in Rockville. He was a Mason and had belonged to the Pythagoras Lodge #358 F. & A.M. in Panama City. Robert was a builder at heart, whether it was constructing a treehouse or a large commercial building, he loved to build. He also enjoyed hiking, golf, and most importantly, spending time with his family. Besides his wife Theresa, he is survived by his two children, Nathaniel and Natalie Ekstrom at home; four sisters, Julie Gatwood and her husband Chuck of Chicago, IL, Toni Spatch and her husband Charlie of Pensacola, FL, Janet Sharpe and her husband Dennis of Brewton, AL, and Robin Herring and her husband Mike of Pensacola, FL; He also leaves several nieces and nephews.
Committal Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 3, 2016, at Bayview Memorial Park in Pensacola, FL. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., Saturday at Bayview Fisher-Pou Chapel.
