Robert W. "Bob" Alcock, a retired Marathon Oil Company executive, died May 11, 2014. He was 81. Bob was a twenty year resident of Evergreen, Colorado. A proud graduate of Texas A&M University, he remained true to his alma mater and was never far from his "Fightin' Texas Aggie" ball cap. Bob is fondly remembered for his wit and wry humor, unflappable demeanor, and gentle heart. Bob served in the United States Air Force as a flight officer after graduating from A&M. Robert W. "Bob" Alcock, a retired Marathon Oil Company executive, died May 11, 2014. He was 81.

Bob was a twenty year resident of Evergreen, Colorado. A proud graduate of Texas A&M University, he remained true to his alma mater and was never far from his "Fightin' Texas Aggie" ball cap. Bob is fondly remembered for his wit and wry humor, unflappable demeanor, and gentle heart.

Bob served in the United States Air Force as a flight officer after graduating from A&M. After his military service he held numerous positions in the oil industry, first with Amerada Hess in the U.S. and Virgin Islands. Most of his career was with Marathon Oil Company, where he managed engineering and operations at the Garyville, Louisiana refinery, and served as Division Manager of the Texas City, Texas and Robinson, Illinois refineries. He retired in 1994 from Marathon's corporate headquarters in Findlay, Ohio.

Bob is survived by his loving wife, Virginia Lowe; his twin brother, James Alcock (Carolyn) of Houma, Louisiana; his four children from his first marriage to the deceased Susan D. Alcock: Robert Alcock (Meredith) of San Diego, California; Susan Alcock (John Cherry) of Providence, Rhode Island; Mary Alcock (Ray Check) of New York, New York; and Richard Alcock (Liz) of Somerville, Massachusetts; and by three granddaughters, Margaret Alcock (Taylor), Maureen Plaumann (John), and Megan Alcock.

Additionally, Bob was a loving stepfather to Dawn Sagaser (Chip) of Evergreen, Colorado; Sharon Lowe of Evergreen, Colorado; Shannon Baker (Joe) of Denver, Colorado; and George Lowe (Amanda) of New Orleans, Louisiana; and man's best friend, Briggs.

A funeral mass will be said May 22nd at 11 a.m. at Christ the King Catholic Church, 4291 Evergreen Parkway, Evergreen, Colorado 80439, with visitation at 10 a.m. His final resting place will be the Hope Mausoleum in New Orleans, Louisiana. Flowers are welcome at Christ the King Catholic Church, or a donation in Bob's honor may be made to Mt. Evans Home Health & Hospice, 3081 Bergen Peak Drive, Evergreen, CO 80439.
