Bob was born on July 10, 1936 in Lamoni, the son of Robert and Leota Stanley Alexander and graduated from Keokuk High School in 1954. On Dec. 31, 1958, he married Luvina Randolph in Kahoka, Mo. Bob had worked many jobs in the Gilbert area including being a custodian at the high school and driving a school bus. He had also worked construction and had worked at Blacks and Sons Elevator in Kelley. He retired as a custodian at Iowa State University in 2002. Bob loved to fish the Mississippi River and in local farm ponds. He also enjoyed three trips to Germany.

Bob is survived by his wife of 53 years, Lu, of Gilbert; sons, David (Gundel) Varner, of Gilbert, Robert (Carol) Alexander Jr., of Boone, Albert Alexander, of Albany, Mo. and Jay Alexander, of Boone; daughters, Linda (Mark) Handsacker, of Des Moines and Luvina Bull, of Gilbert; 11 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren and a brother, Bill (Connie) Alexander, of Vermont. "Dear Lu, I just heard about Bob's death through my son, Bruce. I am so very sorry and saddened by his death. My heart truly goes out to you in sympathy...."
