"The Greatest Generation" is one less with the passing away of Robert G. Allen of Ventura, California. He was born May 17, 1921 in Kilmore, Nebraska, and went to be with the Lord June 20, 2014, he was 93. He was the son of William and Ruth Pedersen. Robert moved to Ventura in 1961. He began working in the maintenance department of Ventura county General Hospital. He met his future wife and was approached to begin a new career as a Ventura County Deputy Coroner. "The Greatest Generation" is one less with the passing away of Robert G. Allen of Ventura, California. He was born May 17, 1921 in Kilmore, Nebraska, and went to be with the Lord June 20, 2014, he was 93. He was the son of William and Ruth Pedersen. Robert moved to Ventura in 1961. He began working in the maintenance department of Ventura county General Hospital. He met his future wife and was approached to begin a new career as a Ventura County Deputy Coroner. Robert graduated at the top of his class and served the county for ten years. After being place on permanent disability he continued to serve his neighborhood by providing various solutions to a multitude of odd jobs. Due to his help and service to others he was affectionately called "Hizzonor" of Baker, California and Ventura Avenues. He was a builder, cabinet maker, truck driver, over the road bus driver and business man during his lifetime. He was successful in all of these areas.

During WWII Mr. Allen received the rank of E6 in the United States Army. He was involved in securing the beaches at Normandy as was in the liberation of France. He served as part of a Motor Squad carrying classified weaponry. At one point in his career he drove General George Patton. He was honorably discharged in 1944. He and his wife "Mickey" were active members of the VFW. Robert was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years Armanda Bell Allen; brothers, Eugene Allen and William "Bill" Pedersen, and sister's Mary Burnham and Marie Lesiko. He is survived by sons; Ron (wife Barbara) Allen and Ken (wife Luz) Allen; daughters, Betty Loving, Shirley Wood and Nancy (husband Tom) Harris; 20 grandchildren, 60 great-grandchildren, 35 great-great-grandchildren and one great-great-great-grandchild. He will be missed by family and friends.

A time of visitation will be held at Charles Carroll Funeral Home, Tuesday, June 24 from 1-3 with a service from 3-4pm.
