Robert Anderson Obituary

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Tenth Avenue United Methodist Church with the Rev. Tommy Ewing officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery by Memorial Park Funeral Home, 6969 E. Interstate 40. Mr. Anderson was born Nov. 11, 1929, in Childress County to Jim Dee and Earlie Victoria Reed Anderson. He graduated from Childress High School in 1948. After graduating, he joined the U.S. Navy and served from 1948 to 1952. Mr. Anderson married Linda Miller on March 21, 1969. He worked for Texaco Refinery for 31 years before retiring in 1985. He was a member of Tenth Avenue United Methodist Church for 46 years, serving in various capacities including Sunday school teacher, choir member, greeter, chairman of the board of trustees, finance committee member, pastor parish relations committee member and chairman of the Harvest Festival committee. Andy also served at the Wesley Community Center for three years on the board of trustees, nine years on the board of directors and as president in 1981. He also was a member of the Sunrise Lions Club for 15 years and served in various capacities including secretary, treasurer and president. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Juanita Wright; and two brothers, Harold and Bill Anderson. Survivors include his wife, Linda Anderson of Amarillo; a son, Steve Anderson and wife Rachel of Fort Worth; two daughters, Susan Owens and husband Ron of Temple and Susan Skaggs and husband Hal of Amarillo; four brothers, Darold Anderson and Don Anderson and wife Shari, all of Fort Worth, Dennis Anderson and wife Cecilia of Wichita Falls, and E.J. Anderson and wife Rex Ann of Lorenia; two brothers-in-law, Bobby Miller and Van Miller and wife Donna, all of Amarillo; a sister-in-law, Rhonda Bennett and husband Donnie of Longmont, Colo.; and many other beloved family members and friends.
