Obituary

Robert Lee Barg, 94, passed away on January 19th at Lost Pines Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Bastrop, Texas. He was born on November 20, 1918 to Fred and Ena Barg. Robert grew up in San Benito, TX. He enlisted in the Army in 1940 and was a flight engineer on the B-29 during WWII. He ended his military service as a Captain in the Army Air Corps. His memoirs are at the National Museum of the Pacific War in Fredericksburg. After the war, he worked for Tennessee Gas Transmission as a Chief Plant Operator where he worked for 34 years. Robert Lee Barg, 94, passed away on January 19th at Lost Pines Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Bastrop, Texas. He was born on November 20, 1918 to Fred and Ena Barg.

Robert grew up in San Benito, TX. He enlisted in the Army in 1940 and was a flight engineer on the B-29 during WWII. He ended his military service as a Captain in the Army Air Corps. His memoirs are at the National Museum of the Pacific War in Fredericksburg. After the war, he worked for Tennessee Gas Transmission as a Chief Plant Operator where he worked for 34 years.

Robert married Evelyn Klepland in 1943 in Houston, Texas. They were happily married for 69 years. They lived in Agua Dulce, TX for 57 years and moved to Bastrop in 2007. Robert was a member of the Agua Dulce Methodist Church, Banquete Methodist Church, and Cedar Creek United Methodist Church. He enjoyed fishing, traveling in his RV, working in his yard and garden, and woodwork. He could fix anything and if he needed a part, he would make one.

Robert is survived by his wife Evelyn, his daughter Carol Barg of Austin, his sister Marian of Kernersville, NC. and his nieces, nephews and extended family. Robert was a loving husband, father, uncle, and friend to all.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Ena , his son Bob, his sister Phyllis and brother Verne.

A special thank you to the Bastrop AsceraCare Hospice and Bastrop Lost Pines Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for their loving care and support.

A memorial service will be held at 1:30 on Saturday, January 26th at Cedar Creek United Methodist Church in Cedar Creek. The family will visit with guests immediately following the service.
