Robert "Bob" Leon Boone, 83, a resident of the Fulks Run community of Rockingham county, died at 5:26 Tuesday morning at the VA Medical Center at Martinsburg, WV.
He was born on Sept. 27, 1927 in Clifton Forge where he graduated from High School. Mr. Boone had been employed in construction with the Nielson Construction Co. for 25 to 30 years prior to his retirement in 2000. He served in the Army and Marines during World War II and was a member of the VFW Post 632. He was also a member of the Pentecostal Church.
In 2002 he married Lorraine Knight Orebaugh who survives him.
Besides his wife, he is survived by one brother, French Boone and his wife, Lucia, of Washington, DC; several nieces and nephews; seven step-daughters Debra Eye in Hinton; Brenda Bowman, Connie Orebaugh, and Kathy Dean, all of Dayton; Evie Ahles of Linville; Loretta Freeze of Bridgewater and Barbara Orebaugh of Harrisonburg; and a number of step-grandchildren and great-grand children.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 until 12:00 Monday morning, April 25, 2011 from the Chapel of the Lindsey Harrisonburg Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 12:00 noon from the Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Holmes Campbell and Pastor Laney Knight. Interment will be in the Mt. Clinton Mennonite Church Cemetery.
