Robert (Bob) A. Brodeur, 87, passed away Sunday, February 17, 2013 in Jacksonville, Florida. He leaves behind his loving wife and children.
Born in Atlanta, GA July 10, 1925 to Asa and Obdulia Brodeur, Bob, a lifelong resident of Jacksonville, is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years, Carmel Johns Brodeur, his children, Stephen (Judie) of Los Angeles, CA, Julie (George) of Jacksonville, FL, Carmel Anne (Ernest) of Jacksonville, FL, Mark (Dean) of Bentonville, AR, and Jeanne of Atlantic Beach, Fl. He is also survived by his nine grandchildren and his seven great- grandchildren.
Bob grew up in Murray Hill, attending St. Paul's Catholic School, graduating in 1943. He served in the Naval Air Corp during WWII from 1943 to 1947. He graduated from the University of Florida in 1948 with a BS in Business Administration. Bob married his high school sweetheart, Carmel, in August 1948. He had a long career in human resources, including Sears, Brodeur Personnel Service, and Ashland Oil Co. Bob retired in 1988, and he and Carmel enjoyed many years of travel, golf, and family.
Bob was a devout Catholic, active at Christ the King Catholic Church for 46 years, serving as a Eucharistic minister and lector. He was loved by many and will be missed by all.
Family will be receiving visitors Friday, February 22, 2013 at Hardage-Giddens located at 4115 Hendricks Ave. Jacksonville FL. 32207 at 5:00pm, followed by a vigil service at 6:00pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 23rd 2013 in Christ The King Catholic Church, 720 N Arlington Rd Jacksonville, FL 32211, with Msgr. Mortimer Danaher as Celebrant. Interment will follow at Oaklawn Cemetery with military honors.
