BROOKS, Robert "Bob" Ambrose, 79, of Surprise, Arizona, a United States Air Force Veteran, passed away peacefully at home, on September 15, 2016, after a year long battle with Cancer. Bob was born on September 19, 1936 in Annapolis, Maryland. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Augustus Brooks and Hazel Bell Allen Brooks. Bob graduated from Englewood High School in Chicago, Illinois in 1954. He enlisted in the United States Air Force, and served ten years as an Airborne Radio Operator. BROOKS, Robert "Bob" Ambrose, 79, of Surprise, Arizona, a United States Air Force Veteran, passed away peacefully at home, on September 15, 2016, after a year long battle with Cancer. Bob was born on September 19, 1936 in Annapolis, Maryland. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Augustus Brooks and Hazel Bell Allen Brooks. Bob graduated from Englewood High School in Chicago, Illinois in 1954. He enlisted in the United States Air Force, and served ten years as an Airborne Radio Operator. Bob was hired by Digital Equipment Corporation as one of only six Bench Techs hired. He left Digital as a Vice President in 1991. He attended the Stanford Executive Program for Senior Managers in 1975, as well as the Advanced International Management Program, INSEAD, France in 1991. He eventually retired from Corporate America. Bob loved to sail and could frequently be found sailing in the San Francisco Bay. He sailed to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, where he retired. Bob was an avid sports fan. He enjoyed college football, and cheering the PAC-12, and on Sunday's, it was all about his 49er's! He enjoyed watching basketball too, and had the honor of presenting LA Lakers Coach Pat Riley with the "Coach of the Year Award" on behalf of his company. Bob is survived by his loving wife, Luz Maria Hernandez Landeros; and by his beloved children, son, Dedrick Robert (Chatelle) Brooks; daughter, Tamara Lynn Brooks; son, Andre (Francine) Brooks; and step-daughter, Alejandra Y. Tellez Hernandez; by his grandchildren, Desirae, Devin, Skylar, Chase, Xavier, and twins, Tori and Kingston; his great-grandchild, Micah; his brother, Hosea Thomas (Marisa) Brooks; and by his sister, Hazel Delores Brooks Dollison; and by many nieces and nephews and extended family. Bob was a loving father, husband, grandfather, great-grandfather, and a friend to all. He will be forever missed by all who knew him. Arrangements under the direction of Surprise Funeral Care, Surprise, Arizona. A Visitation will be held on Friday, September 23, 2016 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, and Saturday, September 24, 2016 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Surprise Funeral Care, 16063 W. Bell Road, Surprise, Arizona 85374. The Celebration of Life Gathering will be held on Saturday, September 24, 2016 in the Chapel at Surprise Funeral Care at 11:00 AM, with a Reception to follow at the Irish Wolfhound at 16811 N. Litchfield Road, #104, Surprise, Arizona 85374. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a charitable donation to a charity which supports Cancer Research.
