Obituary

Robert Carl Brown, 86, of Kingsley passed away peacefully at his home Tuesday, January 17, 2012. He was born March 21, 1925 in Kingsley to Theron and Mabel (Winchcomb) Brown. During the 11th grade Bob enlisted in the US Navy and served his country during WWII in the Philippines. Upon his return home he met and married Halcyone Sieffert on June 18, 1949 at her grandfather's home in Kingsley. Together they raised 8 children. Bob worked for George and then Claude Smith at Smith Funeral Home in Kingsley, now Covell Funeral Home, for 30 years. He also retired as a bus driver for Kingsley Schools. Robert Carl Brown, 86, of Kingsley passed away peacefully at his home Tuesday, January 17, 2012. He was born March 21, 1925 in Kingsley to Theron and Mabel (Winchcomb) Brown. During the 11th grade Bob enlisted in the US Navy and served his country during WWII in the Philippines. Upon his return home he met and married Halcyone Sieffert on June 18, 1949 at her grandfather's home in Kingsley. Together they raised 8 children.
Bob worked for George and then Claude Smith at Smith Funeral Home in Kingsley, now Covell Funeral Home, for 30 years. He also retired as a bus driver for Kingsley Schools. In 2004 Bob finally received his high school diploma, an achievement he was very proud of.
Bob was a member of the Manton VFW, American Legion of Fife Lake, and life member of the Kingsley Sportsman Club, Buckley Old Engine Club, and Kingsley United Methodist Church. In his spare time he participated in many golf and bowling leagues. Bob also enjoyed fishing and hunting.
He will be greatly missed by his loving wife of 62 years Halcyone; children: Randy (Nancy) Brown of Buckley, Sandy Stauffer of Lowell, Janice (Larry) Clous of Buckley, Nancy (Art) Petke of Florida, Carl (Diane) Brown of Kingsley, Jon (Debra) Brown of Levelland TX, Charlotte (Ronald) Hill of Otsego, and Pam (Randy) Clark of Kingsley; 27 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren; a brother Joe (Patricia) Brown; and special friends Don Pfau, Jack Peterson, and Walt Thompson.
Besides his parents, Bob was preceded in death by an infant son Darrell; brothers: Harold, Charles, and Theron; sister Mildred; son-in-law David Stauffer.
The family would like to thank Home Care and Munson Hospice for their kindness and compassion.
A visitation will be held Friday, January 20, 2012 from 4-8p.m. at the Covell Funeral Home in Kingsley. A memorial service will be held Saturday, January 21 at 1p.m. also at the funeral home. Burial will take place in the spring at Evergreen Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be directed to Munson Hospice, Kingsley United Methodist Church, or charity of donor's choice.
