Robert C. Dahlquist, age 84, died Thursday, September 20, 2012 at Friendly Village Nursing Home. He was born on March 16, 1928 in Niagra, Wisconsin to John L. and Sarah C. (Bugold) Dahlquist. He enlisted in the U.S. Army serving his country during WWII. He reenlisted continuing to serve his country until 1953. Robert was united in marriage on October 4, 1952 in St. Paul, Minnesota to the former Dorothy Yeske. They lived in Coon Rapids, Minnesota until the mid 1990's. Robert had operated a gas station and had been a security guard. He had lived in various areas of Minnesota and Wisconsin eventually settling in Rhinelander. Robert enjoyed duck hunting and researching the Dahlquist family heritage.
Surviving are his three children; Vickie Cheney of Alabama, Anita Elsenpeter of Anoka, MN, and Robert Dahlquist of Minnesota, six grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Also surviving are one brother and sister-in-law; Walter Joseph (Shirley) Dahlquist of Rhinelander. Robert is further survived by nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
Cremation has taken place. Burial with full military honors will take place at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis, Minnesota. Hildebrand-Russ Funeral Home, (715)-365-4343, is assisting the family with arrangements. All are invited to light a candle and leave an online condolence at hildebrandfh.com.

Bob was a great story-teller and interesting fellow. I am sure he is finally at peace in the arms of the Lord whole once more free of earthly pain and suffering. I feel honored to have known Bob and to help him during these past months. May God Bless You and fill you with memories of Bob during a happier time.
