Bob never married and had no children. He was raised in a Christian home, went to church every Sunday, and attended a Christian school. He also received an AA degree at Chaffey College. He worked for his father's cattle hauling business for 30 years having eventually taken it over.

Bob was a Vietnam vet. He was honorably discharged as an Army Sergeant. After he came back from the war, he was a changed man. He saw and did things there that haunted him every day since. He struggled physically, mentally and emotionally, but he knew his God and had accepted Him as his Savior.

He had a stroke 14 years ago and at that time his mother and all his siblings gathered around when the doctors said he had only a 5% chance to live. In recent years, he has had so many health issues and has been in and out of the hospital several times. Whenever he could, he would come to our family functions and it was always a delight to have him there.

We feel God must have a special grace for tortured souls. We know that he is walking with the Lord now, all of his pain is gone, he is happy and was welcomed home by his parents and sister, Debbie Kashima.

Bob is survived by his sisters, Marge Frings, Joyce Wiersema, Sharon Wilber and Carol Vander Schaaf, his brothers, Ron, Butch, Pete, and John De Bie and his many nephews and nieces.
