Robert Jay DeWitt, 73, went home to be with our loving Lord and Savior on Saturday, December 2, 2017, at Zeeland Community Hospital.
Robert faithfully worked at Herman Miller for 35 years. He loved to work out in the garage and tinker on his projects. He was always willing to help out his kids and grandchildren. He was a NASCAR fan who enjoyed watching races. Robert was loved and will be greatly missed.
He is survived by the love of life Twilla (Kooienga) to whom he was married for 53 years. Robert is also survived by his children Darlene (Larry) Lambert, Kim DeWitt-Jenkinson, David DeWitt (Angela Planck); by grandchildren Colt and Kelsey Engelsman, Devin Jenkinson, Miranda Diotalevi, Jared Diotalevi, Sara DeWitt and Andrew Meaney, Courtney Mann, Derek DeWitt, Rachel DeWitt; by step-grandchildren Joey Lambert, Maria Lambert and Laura Lambert; by great-grandchildren Athena Engelsman, Wyatt Engelsman, Oliva Jenkinson, August Mann, Jayceon Planck. He is also survived by brothers and sisters Jerry and Diane DeWitt, Ron and Frieda DeWitt, Edwin DeWitt, Ray DeWitt and Joanne DeWitt; brothers and sisters-in-law John and Gladys Kooienga, Arnold and Arlene Kooienga, Wayne Kooienga, Gerald and Dixie Kooienga, Elmer and Aletha Kooienga, Floyd and Mary Kooienga, Lloyd and Vicki Kooienga, Gerrietta VanKoevering, Marilyn Rennison, Marian Koster, Elma Meeusen, Lorraine Folkert, Pauline House, Joann Stoker, Lois and Stanley Dykstra; by his close friend Todd Lehnen, and many nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Robert's life will be 11 a.m. Friday, December 8 at First Baptist Church, 246 West Main St., Zeeland, Michigan. Visitation will be Thursday, December 7, from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at the church. Please visit www.lakeshorememorial.com to leave a message or memory for the DeWitt family.
