Born on May 24, 1930 in Omaha NE to the late Charles and Lillian Fellingham he was raised by his paternal grandparents, Charles and Myrtle Fellingham, in Council Bluffs IA where he attended and graduated from Abraham Lincoln (AL) High School in 1947. Following an appointment and subsequent graduation from the U.S. Naval Academy in 1952 he married his high school sweetheart Elnora (Geasland) and started a 30 year career in the US Navy. Assigned to amphibious ships he participated in numerous actions during the Korean War from 1952 to 1954. In 1955 he completed Submarine School and began his career in the silent service that culminated with his command of the submarine USS Atule out of Key West Florida. Assignments followed in Milwaukee Wisconsin where he commanded a Naval Reserve unit bringing two submarines through the newly opened St. Lawrence seaway as well as Hawaii and San Diego where he served as on officer aboard several different submarines. During the Vietnam War he served as an operations and executive officer on board submarines conducting reconnaissance and rescue operations off the Vietnam coast. Following command and a tour in Norfolk Virginia he assumed command of a Naval Facility in Brawdy Wales where as the senior NATO officer in the area he hosted numerous dignitaries to include Charles, the Prince of Wales. His final assignment before his retirement was in Canton Ohio where he was the U.S. Navy's representative at the Goodyear Plant.

After retiring from the Navy he took up his second career in real estate in Canton Ohio where with his wife and because of their love of music and singing they became notable performers in the Canton (Ohio) Civic Opera. Subsequently moving to Pensacola Florida they traveled the world together before finally relocating to Roswell in 2009.
