He grew up on a cattle ranch near Prineville where he attended a one-room, eight-grade country school house. The family moved to the Seattle area in 1934 where he completed his college degree at the University of Washington in 1936. In 1941 he married Lois Meacham.

Bob served in the army during World War II primarily stationed in Alaska. He worked for Graybar Electric Company and in 1948 transferred from Seattle to Spokane as Operations Manager. Spokane has continued to be their home to present. He left Graybar to go into the finance business where he established offices at Shadle Park and Lincoln Heights. After selling the business he worked in real estate during the 1970's.

Bob was involved in many community activities including serving on the Junior Symphony Board, and an active member of the Junior Achievement Program. He was a charter member of the Shadle Lions Club, later transferring to the Manito Loins Club where he was a past president and 40 year member. Bob started the Spokane Marketeers Investment Club in 1955 which still exists. He and wife Lois were members of the Manito Presbyterian Church since 1950.

Although Bob and his wife Lois did not travel extensively during their retirement they spent numerous years visiting western states and Canada, particularly enjoying Hawaii for many winters. More than 40 summers have been spent enjoying their cabin on Coeur d'Alene Lake.

Bob will be dearly missed by his children, Carol North and husband Brad of Bellevue, Gordon Gray and wife Jeane of Kenmore, Kathy Montgomery and husband Ted of Redmond, in addition to his four grandchildren, Brian, Christine, Kyle and Lisa, along with 10 great grandchildren. He leaves one sister, Berniece Ackerman of Medford, OR and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years Lois and son Philip.

At his request there will be no memorial service. A casual social with family and friends will be held Saturday, May 10th at 2:00 P.M. at Rockwood South Hill, Main lounge. Memorial contributions may be made to the Rockwood Foundation. Inurnment will be at Juniper Haven Cemetery, Prineville, OR.
