Keith was born June 23, 1923, in Kansas City, Kansas, son of Clyde and Bessie Grider Johnson. He was predeceased by his parents, his sisters and brothers-in-law, Clydean and Les Johanson; Elizabeth and Ted Gaffney.
Keith was educated in Kansas City, Kansas schools and graduated from Wyandotte High School. He served in the Army Signal Corps during and after WWII, helping to rebuild Europe. After his military service, Keith graduated from the Kansas City Art Institute and continued his studies at the Pratt Institute. Upon graduation he remained in New York working with costume and set design. Later Keith returned to Kansas City and a banking career at the Manufactures and Mechanics Bank and then with United Missouri Bank.
Keith's love of the arts was fostered at a young age. He was in one of the earliest children's art classes the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art offered. Later in his life, Keith was a tireless volunteer at the museum, a welcoming face at the information desk for many years. He also served his community in other ways by volunteering at the Kansas City Missouri Public Library and by helping students in the Kansas City Missouri public schools.
Keith is survived by loving nieces and nephews and countless friends, including Betty Lee and Lewis Jackson. The family wishes to give special thanks to Gilbert Castillo for his loyal friendship to Keith through the years.
Arrangements under the direction of Mount Moriah & Freeman Funeral Home, Kansas City, MO.
