Robert Nolan Kenney, beloved father and husband, was born June 16, 1919, and raised in White Plains, NY, the son of Louis and Elizabeth Kenney. He died on June 24th in Mt. Kisco. After his graduation from White Plains High School, Robert attended Columbia University until he enlisted into the U.S. Army in 1941. He spent five years in service until his retirement as Infantry Captain. He was severely wounded in the Battle of Peleliu and awarded the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star for heroism. Robert Nolan Kenney, beloved father and husband, was born June 16, 1919, and raised in White Plains, NY, the son of Louis and Elizabeth Kenney. He died on June 24th in Mt. Kisco. After his graduation from White Plains High School, Robert attended Columbia University until he enlisted into the U.S. Army in 1941. He spent five years in service until his retirement as Infantry Captain. He was severely wounded in the Battle of Peleliu and awarded the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star for heroism.

Upon his discharge from the Army, he became a press officer for newly organized United Nations; serving as Press Secretary for the first Secretary General, Trygve Lie, and later Secretaries Dag Hammarskjold and U Thant. He went on to cover many international conflicts throughout the world; becoming Director of Press and Publications for Europe in the 1960s, and Director of Publications in New York until his retirement in 1981.

Mr. Kenney's wife of 67 years, Grace O'Brien, died in 2011. He is survived by his four children, Brian Kenney of Cold Spring, NY, Robert Kenney of Cutchogue, NY, John Kenney of Milwaukee, WI, and Jeanne Kenney of White Plains, NY, along with six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
