Wally Keyser was born May 7, 1940 in Seattle, WA, and passed away April 23 of natural causes. Wally graduated from Roosevelt High in 1958 and the University of Washington in 1969. He served in the U.S. Army as a Chaplain's Assistant in Vietnam. He was an accountant for a private CPA firm and later for Butterworth's Funeral Home. His father, Robert J. Keyser, preceded him in death. His mother Edith Keyser, his sister Carol Freeman, and his brother-in-law Robert Freeman, all of Portland, OR survived Wally. He was very proud of his nephews Eric Freeman of Seattle and Craig Freeman of Portland, and his grandnephews Alex (15) and Jake (12) of Seattle, as well as Luke (2) and grandniece Annika, who was born on April 19, 2013, of Portland. Wally enjoyed many Little League baseball, basketball, and football games in Seattle, always marveling at the spirit and talent of the young athletes, and delighted in watching his youngest grandnephew navigate his newest adventures with gusto and smiles.

Wally was generous and kind, a friend to all. He lived nearly his entire life in the Laurelhurst neighborhood and was a fixture in that community, greeting neighbors, offering a helping hand, and watching out for everyone. He was nominated by area residents and recognized in 1998, 1999, and 2006 with the "Good Neighbor Award." He was a faithful supporter of the University of Washington, Children's Hospital, and Northwest Hospital, and was dedicated to improving and preserving Seattle Parks.

A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, May 5, 2013, 4:00-6:00 p.m. at Sandpoint Country Club in Seattle. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the YMCA of Greater Seattle, 909 4th Avenue, Seattle, WA 98104 or the National Federation of the Blind of Washington, P.O. Box 2516, Seattle, WA 98111 in Robert S. Keyser's name.

"Robert, I will sorely miss your phone calls. You were the last person to call me by my full name, Jeanne-Marie. I would hope that you have reunited with..." Jeanne-Marie Maze (Portland, OR)
