King, Robert "Bob" 95, another member of our greatest generation passed away January 3 at Mt. Holly Nursing Home. Bob was born in Butler County to the late Allen and Dartha King. Sgt. King volunteered to serve our Army and was proud of his bronze stars he earned. He talked of his five invasions and his buddies he left behind and how he survived. He also talked of being involved in liberating and freeing the Dachau Prison Camp. Sgt. King fought with the AAA106th attached to the 45th infantry with General Patton. Bob was a proud member of the American Legion Post 180 in St. Matthews. He worked as a bar manager for the Brown Hotel. Then continued working for Walch Liquors. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Arverna King, stepson David Bramble and stepdaughter Sharon Crumpton. He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years Geneva King, stepchildren James, Steve, Ben and Susan Bramble. He also had 16 step grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren and numerous great great grandchildren and his four dearly loved cats, Blackie, Chicken Little, Bobwire and Flicker. Expressions of sympathy can be made to the Kentucky Humane Society or Alley Cats. A service honoring the life of Bob will be held Monday at 12 noon at Evergreen Funeral Home. Visitation will be Sunday from 2-6pm at the funeral home.
