Robert T. Knappe Sr., 74, passed away and was called home on November 10, 2012.
Bob was born in Detroit, Michigan - March 5th, 1938, son of Edmund and Matilda Knappe. By the age of 14, Bob's musical ability had already started to shine as he had become a proficient accordion player and began teaching accordion lessons as his very first business venture. Bob attended Michigan State University where he studied Accounting. He moved to Colorado in 1960, and started working as an accountant, as well as entertaining people with his singing and musical skills after work as a second job. He soon utilized his talent for business and accounting and began a lifetime of business adventures. More importantly, with the people he touched, and relationships he made, he taught us how to love and forgive, and that even when things didn't go well, not to give up. He never did.
He enjoyed playing his accordion or sitting at the Piano performing impromptu sing a-longs, sometimes in hotels, restaurants, or places far away. Wherever there was a Piano, if you were with Bob you better be ready to sing.
Bob also loved spending time with his family and friends. He adored his pets, was a big fan of the great outdoors, and enjoyed traveling to new places.
He is survived by two brothers, Ed and Don; his wife, Cheryl; 5 children, Bobby, Boni, Becky, Beverly and Tricia; 12 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren.
Bob is preceded in death by his parents Edmund and Matilda Knappe along with two sons, Todd Knappe and William Knappe.

It was a great pleasure getting to know this amazing man. Although I had only known Bob for a short time while in Alaska he always greeted me with a smile on his face.

Dan Blackard
Cheryl, Bobby, and Family,
You all are in my prayers. I am going to miss Robert's encouragement during the difficult times, his wisdom at all times, his spiritual leadership as required, his gift of inspiring loyalty and respect from others, and his ability to develop lasting friendships wherever he went. He was fun when fun was needed, wise when wisdom was required, a mentor to those who needed mentoring, all business when it was necessary, and caring of others all the time. I know that he is in God's presence forever, and in His perfect care, without pain or suffering. He touched me during the time I spent with him and I will forever be changed for the better because of it. I pray God will comfort his family and loved ones with the peace and knowledge that God knows what is best for all of his children in all things, and I pray that God will grant us all the understanding that it will not be long before we will be forever reunited with Robert in a place where God has paved the streets with gold.
Please let me know if there is anything I can do to help during these difficult times.
Sincerely Yours, Dan Blackard

Cheryl - Dick's note telling us of Bob's passing was such a surprise. I thought he'd be a person to hit 100 as active and busy as he was. I had been wondering when we might get an update on his Alaska venture. Sure sorry to hear it. We told Dan & Rachel. Dan asked us to tell you how much he appreciated Bob for providing him a job those years ago after he got out of the Marines. He said you both were so good to him and he liked the work. He has hoped that with his current Fuji job it might be possible to get back to Colorado. He really liked it there. Though it won't be possible to be there in person, we will be in spirit as our thoughts and prayers will be with you.
