Robert Jacob Krek passed away peacefully in his sleep on June 28, 2012 at Hospice of the Valley in Surprise, Arizona. He was born May 8, 1922 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and raised in Chicago, Illinois. Survivors are his wife of 66 years, Donna, his son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Carolyn of the home, daughter-in-law Patti Krek, two grandchildren, Shari Krek and Bryan Krek, all of Phoenix, Arizona, and seven great- grandchildren. Robert attended Eureka College and served in the US Marine Corp receiving an honorable discharge. He retired from the Arizona Republic after 22 years. Robert loved his family and was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. He loved fishing, gardening, reading, westerns and music. He was a generous, kind man with a warm smile for everyone.
A memorial service will be held at Sunland Memorial Park Mortuary, 15826 Del Webb Blvd, Sun City, AZ 85351 on Saturday, July 7, 2012 at 11 am. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Hospice of the Valley, 1510 E Flower St, Phoenix, AZ 85014 or to the charity of the donor's choice.
