Robert L. (Putt) Nagle died March 27, 2013, in Yakima, Washington. He was born January 25, 1925 to Thomas Lee Nagle and Ruby (Snow) Nagle in Yakima, Washington. He lived all of his life on the family farm on Summitview Extension. He attended Tietonview Grade School, Franklin Junior High, and Yakima High School. Putt played baseball during his school years. He left school to join the Army during World War II. He was on a troop ship bound for Japan when the war ended.

After the war he returned to Yakima and played baseball on the Yakima Junior College team. He attended one year at the University of Washington, returning home after his father's death to run the family apple farm. He was a dedicated orchardist.

Putt married Mary Louise McCormick on December 31, 1949 at St. Paul's Church (now Cathedral) in Yakima. They had five sons: Thomas Lee, Thomas David, Samuel McCormick, James Edward, and John William. He was preceded in death by sons Thomas Lee and James Edward; sister Catherine (Peg) Feyerherm, and wife, Mary Louise, passing away May 18, 2009.

Putt is survived by three sons Thomas David Nagle (Kristine), Samuel McCormick Nagle (Tracy), and John William Nagle (Shelly); three grandsons: Lee, Luke, and Jimmy; two granddaughters: Krista and Natalie; and one great grandson: Finn; as well as many family and friends, especially Marty White McClain.

The family would like to thank the staff at Hillcrest and Landmark for their care of Dad during the last weeks of his life. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hospice Program at Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital. Graveside services are scheduled for Saturday, March 30, 2013 at 1 pm at West Hills Memorial Park. I can remember times (in the early 1970's) when I helped the Nagles with the crab apple thinning. Sam, Jim, John and I would be the apple thinning crew. Mr. Nagle would always tell us to "take off enough apples, but don't take off too many."He had a good sense of humor and was a great boss to work for. He will be greatly missed by many. God's peace be with you.
