Obituary

Robert Richard Nichols, 81, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, March 28. A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church on Wednesday, April 2 at 11 a.m. with Father Allan J. McDonald officiating. The inurnment will be at Riverside Cemetery. The rosary will be on Tuesday, April 1 from 6 to 6:30 p.m. at Snow's Memorial Chapel. The family will greet friends following the rosary. The family requests that donations be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church, 830 Poplar Street, Macon 31201. Robert Richard Nichols, 81, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, March 28. A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church on Wednesday, April 2 at 11 a.m. with Father Allan J. Bob was born September 29, 1932 in Etowah, TN to the late Florence Horton and Claude Richard Nichols. He was a graduate of the University of Georgia. Bob was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, having served on the Parish Council. He was a member and past President of Mt. deSales Athletic Association, and a former member of Macon Elks Lodge #230. Bob was a former member and past President of the Ingleside Kiwanis Club. He was retired from a career in banking and human resources.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Carole; two daughters, Melissa (David) Showers of Parkville, MO and Amy (Jim) Dever of Raleigh, NC; two sons, Robbie (Lisa) Nichols of Lanett, AL and Charles (Brenda) Nichols of Simpsonville, SC; grandchildren, Wade, Ann Forrest, Colum, Packy, Maggie, Matthew, Robert, Drew and Marcella; and great-grandchildren, Coulter and R.C.
