Robert F. Olevnik, age 64, of Watkins Glen, NY passed away Saturday, March 26th, 2016.
Bob was born in Montour Falls, NY on September 3, 1951 the son of the late Frank and Dorcellia Mapes Olevnik. He was a graduate of Watkins Glen Central School. He and Sue Thorpe were married on December 31, 1987. His first job was pumping gas for Stan Covert, a man he deeply respected. He also worked for the former Sullivan's Vending in Montour Falls before joining the Watkins Glen Police Department as a dispatcher and part-time patrolman. He retired from Pepsi Cola/Elmira Bottling after 20 years. In recent years he had found his dream job working Track Security at Watkins Glen International. He was a member of the Watkins Glen Elk's Lodge # 1546, Montour Falls Mechanics Club, Watkins Glen Fire Dept., and the Watkins Glen Police Benevolent Association.
Bob is survived by his wife, Sue; daughters, Kristina Olevnik and Robin (Ben) Bingham; grandchildren, Alexis and Owen Bingham, all of Watkins Glen; sister, Shirley (Len) Salvatore, Watkins Glen; brother, Harry (Cathy) Arcangeli, Lakemont, NY; sister in law, Eva Arcangeli, Lansing, NY; several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Francis Arcangeli.
Friends and family may call from 5 to 8 pm on Thursday, March 31st at Haughey Wood Funeral Home, 119 Fifth St., Watkins Glen, NY 14891. His Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am on Friday, April 1st at St. Mary's of the Lake Church, 905 Decatur St., Watkins Glen, NY. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Watkins Glen, NY. Memorial donations may be made in Bob's memory to the Humane Society of Schuyler County, PO Box 427 Montour Falls., NY 14865 or the SPCA of one's choice.

I went to High School with Bob. Are desks in various classes were right next to each other. I am proud to be able to say he was a friend. All his life he was good to people and I can not ever remember him having a bad thing to say about anyone. He will be missed.
