Robert L. Snyder, 82, of Mechanicsburg, PA, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 12, 2012 in Golden Living Center. He was born September 14, 1929 in Harrisburg, a son of the late Sidney and Della (Wagner) Snyder. Robert was a graduate of William Penn High School he attended Williamsport Community College and was a veteran serving in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. Prior to retirement he was a Supervisor /Manager with Bell Telephone for 35 years. Robert L. Snyder, 82, of Mechanicsburg, PA, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 12, 2012 in Golden Living Center.
He was born September 14, 1929 in Harrisburg, a son of the late Sidney and Della (Wagner) Snyder.
Robert was a graduate of William Penn High School he attended Williamsport Community College and was a veteran serving in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War.
Prior to retirement he was a Supervisor /Manager with Bell Telephone for 35 years.
He was a member of Mechanicsburg Presbyterian Church, Founding and Charter member of Christ United Methodist Church in Harrisburg, Life Member of Robert Burns Lodge # 464 F &AM, Williamsport Consistory, Telephone Pioneers of America, and former member of Mechanicsburg Senior Center where he served for 13 years as trip coordinator and tour guide with his wife.
Robert was a Civil War Historian and a devoted father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by 3 brothers and 3 sisters.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years Phyllis A. (Gingrich) Snyder, of Mechanicsburg, sons: Robert Snyder II, his wife, Christine, of Spring, TX, Randall Snyder, his wife Floann, of Newport, PA, grandchildren: Lynn Swain, her husband, William, Robert L. Snyder III, Laura Good, her husband Josh, Michael Snyder, Elizabeth Snyder, one great-grandson, Julian Good and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be conducted 10:30AM, Tuesday, June 19, 2012, from Neill Funeral Home, 3401 Market St. Camp Hill; visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:30 prior to service. Interment Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Harrisburg.
