Robert C. Uebelacker, Jr (Bob) (Ube) passed away after major surgery in Boston. Bob, 64, was born in Duluth Minnesota to Robert Sr. and Dorothy Uebelacker. Bob graduated from Duluth's Denfeld High School in 1966. He graduated from the University of Minnesota and obtained advanced degrees through the University of Northern Colorado, and University of Maryland, College Park. He entered the United States Air Force upon graduation and served on active duty for twenty-two years.

A devoted husband, beloved son and brother, patriot, friend, and mentor, Bob was a great American whose life was spent in the service of our nation. Lt Col (ret.) Uebelacker first served his nation with distinction as a B-52 pilot and then as an U-2 pilot before continuing on to serve as a civil servant. For the last four years, prior to his final flight on February 15, 2013, Bob served with distinction as a Systems Engineer in the Space Development & Test Directorate.

Quiet, soft spoken and unassuming, Bob was an engineer by degree and a pilot by profession. He loved flight operations and space exploration. His work with the Space Development and Test Directorate at Kirtland Air Force Base in New Mexico, was a capstone assignment that brought him great satisfaction. He enjoyed sharing war stories and mentoring the young officers. His hobbies included scuba diving and many adventures around the world with his wife Sally.

He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife Sally, brother Gary, and sisters Diane, Rita, and Karen. He is also survived by his sisters-in-law: Cookie, Peggy, Susan, brother-in-law Joe as well as many loving nieces, nephews and friends around the world.

The service for Bob Uebelacker is at 3 p.m. March 8, 2013 at the Kirtland AFB Base Chapel, Albuquerque, New Mexico.
