After her first four years living in Grand Lake Stream, ME, the family moved to Gray, ME; she spent her school years in Gray, graduating from Pennell Institute (the Gray high school), in 1956. After more than 33 years of Government service, she retired in October 1998, receiving the Superior Civilian Service Award. Since retiring, she has lived in Williamsburg, VA.
