Roberta Ann Bullen (Cotton) Bergin
Mason, MI
Born May 4, 1923, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 3, 2013. Roberta was born in Mason, MI, the youngest of 6, her heritage dates back to 1836 and first to settle in Aurelius Township, one year before Michigan became a state. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ward and Pearl Bullen; husband, Bill Bergin; two brothers and three sisters, she being the last sibling. Surviving are her three children, Mary Cotton (Joe Cantin), Cordie (Craig) Granzow, Jeff (Donna) Cotton; grandchildren, Ryan Cotton, Rachel (Bret) Schrader; great grandchildren, Jack, William, Sam; sister-in-law, Belva Cocke and her family; many nieces and nephews who have fond memories of a wonderful Aunt. She was a very devoted woman. Roberta was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Mason where many ancestors attended. She sang in the choir for over 50 years. Her love of singing and music will continue in our hearts forever more. She retired from Michigan State University in 1984 after 27 years of service. Roberta was instrumental in organizing the Clerical Technical (CTU) Union at MSU. She weekly visited the Dimondale Nursing Home facility leading sing-alongs for the residents. She was a volunteer at Holt Public Schools assisting children with challenged reading difficulties; she took many under her wing. Memorial Services will be held at the First Presbyterian Church, 131 E. Maple St., Mason, MI on Sunday, February 10, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. A celebration and final tribute will be held at North Aurelius Cemetery in the summer, date to be announced. Contributions can be made to First Presbyterian Church of Mason; Cordie Middleton Library Fund, Capital Area District Library, 145 W. Ash St., Mason, MI 48854; and McLaren Hospice, 2316 S. Cedar Street, Suite 600, Lansing, MI 48910.
The family is being served by the Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, Mason, MI.

We had a great neighborhood in Mason while growing up and your family was part of it. Your mom had a particularly good sense of humor and raised three wonderful kids. It was nice meeting one of the grand kids some twenty years later in Williamston. Best to you all....
