Roberto Liut Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Nov. 18, 2014.

LIUT, Roberto "Bob"
(November 29th, 1947 – November 18th, 2014)
(Former President and co-founder of Trillium Screw Mfg. Co. Ltd.)
After a courageous battle with cancer, it is with great sadness that we announce the passing of a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and friend. Bob passed away with his family by his side on Tuesday, November 18th, 2014 at the age of 66. Predeceased by his parents Angelo and Irma Liut and his father-in-law Bruce MacNab. Bob leaves behind his wife of 45 years Margaret (MacNab), his three proud children; Tony (Agnes), Kelly (Stu), and Mike (Casey) and his adored grandchildren Isabella, Emily and Emmett. He will be sadly missed by his three sisters in Italy, his mother-in-law Marion MacNab and his many nieces, nephews and in-laws around the world. He will also be fondly remembered by his many friends including "the gang". Bob moved to Canada from Italy at the age of 18 where he met his true love and built the life he set out to achieve. A special thanks to the doctors and nurses at Princess Margaret Hospital in Toronto and Lakeridge Health Oshawa. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Princess Margaret Hospital, Lakeridge Health Oshawa Cancer Centre or the Canadian Blood Services. A celebration of life service will be held at the OSHAWA AND DISTRICT SHRINE CLUB (1626 Simcoe Street North, Oshawa) on Saturday, November 29th at 11:00 a.m. followed by a reception from 12:30 - 3:00 p.m. A private burial will be held at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to OSHAWA FUNERAL HOME, 847 King Street West (905-721-1234).

I met Bob when I worked for Burndy which later became FCI Canada Inc. so I only knew him through Trillium Screw. Bob was so professional, understanding, smart, gracious, determined and best of all unselfish. He went out of his way to please his customers, so I can only imagine what kind of man he was in his personal life. I remember him fondly as one of my favorite people that I had the pleasure of meeting in my life.
My condolences to your family.

Roberto has been a member of the MacNab family for forty-seven years. Marg and Roberto have had a happy, happy life together. He became a lovely brother to us at the right time in our lives and went on to become a wonderful brother-in-law to our husbands as well. He saw us through our teenaged years; we had some great adventures together in our twenties; then enjoyed raising our families side by side. We were all just beginning to plan our retirement years, wondering what sort of mischief we could resume. We take comfort in the steadfast memories of Roberto that we can share together as a family. They will stay with us forever.
