Rodney (Snookie) Van Maele, age 63 of Independence, Mo. Passed away September 2, 2017 at the home. Rodney was born and lived in Independence his entire life. He was a graduate of Truman High School. Rodney worked at Jack Cooper Auto Transportation as a diesel mechanic. He was an avid BBQ smoker. Other interests were animals and muscle cars. He was preceded in death by his parents, Maurice and Mildred (Fisher) Van Maele. He is survived by 4 brothers, Maurice, John (Candy), Robert (Patti) and Ronald, and 8 sisters, Valeria Morton, Mary Bellamy (Roy), Freda Murphy (Everett), Janet Miller (Harold), Sharon Woodcock (Glen), Margaret Rush (Don), Judith Spake (Larry), and Patty Freedle. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Visitation Wed., Sept. 13, from 6-8pm, Newcomers Noland Road Chapel, 509 S Noland Rd., Indep., MO 64040. Interment at a later date. Contributions may be made to a charity of your choice.

Snookie the Gentle Giant. Always a smirk or Smile. Great laugh. Loved to work hard and play. I remember the water balloon launcher. He had everybody laughing. Loved his family and especially his Nieces and Nephews and all kids. They all Loved him. And we all Loved him. Snookie the world seems a bit smaller now. Your presence was large. Hug Mom VanMaele for me. Walk with now pain and no worries. You won't ever be forgotten on this planet. Could use a Angel on all our shoulders time to time. I Loved you as a Brother in law. And I Love you for being you. It was a honor to have had you in my life. Blessings and Prayers to All that will miss you Much Live and Respect Snook Love ya always Ola Reynolds
