Roger Dean Martin, 62, of Newton N.C., gained his wings September 7, 2017. Mr. Martin was a native of Charlotte, NC. He is the son of the late Maurice Martin and Maggie Martin. Mr. Martin was a Distribution Manager at Merita Bakery for 32 years. He loved fishing, fast cars and the NC Tarheels. He was a loving Husband, Father, Grandfather, Brother and Uncle.
Mr. Martin is preceded in death by Brothers Eugene Martin, Marvin Martin and Donnie Martin; Sister Mary Harris. Surviving are his wife Darlene Martin, Daughter; Pamela Mauney; Son Roger Dean Martin, Jr.; Sisters Patricia Monroe and Betty Morrison; Step-brother; Johnny Crotts; Step-children; Chuck Wriston, Chris Wriston, Brandon Greer, Brittany Greer, Nathan Holden, Ethel Holden and Donald Holden; 5 Grandchildren; 10 Step-grandchildren; 1 great Grandchild; and many Nieces and Nephews.
The family will receive friends at 1:00 pm Thursday, 9/14/2017 at Forest Lawn West Funeral & Cremation Service. Memorial service will follow at 2:00 pm in the Paul Helton Chapel with the Rev. Rick Cloninger officiating. The family will receive friends and family after the service at 1777 Stanley-Lucia Rd. Mt Holly, NC 28120.

Roger, it's been over a month now and it still doesn't seem real. I miss you so much and mom does too. I never thought you would leave us so soon. You're the best step dad I could have asked for. We may have butted heads a time or two, but lets be honest, who DIDN'T you butt heads with? I'll miss you so much Roger. RIP and take care of Leo up there for me. I love you!

Roger was the brother to my wonderful brother n law Eugene Martin who was married to my beloved sister Gloria we all grew up together and had wonderful times being kids Roger was always the joker in the crowd and a wonderful friend he will truely be missed , R.I.P. My friend.
