SHERMAN, TX – Roger Wolcott Newton, 58, of Lewisville, TX died in an auto accident on December 29, 2017. He was the son of the late Rev. Seth W. Newton, and is survived by his mother, Helen R. Newton, of Mashpee, MA. Roger leaves three brothers, Seth H. Newton of Franklin, MA; Andrew D. Newton and his wife Sherri of Bluffton, SC; Tyler F. Newton and his wife Karen of Fredericksburg, VA; and his sister, Barbara P. Manchester, and her husband Thomas of Falmouth, MA. Roger also leaves a daughter, Brielle Bryden, of Dennis, MA, and many nieces, nephews, and extended family. Roger will be dearly missed by his loving partner, Tracey Weaver, and her two daughters, Kristen and Kayla of North Dallas.
Born on July 1, 1959 in Nashua, NH, Roger was raised in Massachusetts. He graduated from Barnstable High School on Cape Cod in 1977. For the past 20 years, he made his life and home in the greater Dallas area. After earning a computer science degree from DeVry University, he became a network engineer at the Marriott Courtyard DFW Airport North/Irving, where he worked from 2003 until the time of his passing.
Throughout his life, he pursued many diverse entrepreneurial ventures. Roger was most passionate about technology and mechanics. He especially loved tinkering with computers and cars. His other interests included boating, piloting small aircraft, traveling, and cooking. Roger will be remembered for his handsome smile, optimistic personality, and ability to infuse humor into everything he did. His friends regarded him as a kind soul who was generous with his time and talents.
A funeral service will be held in celebration of Roger's life on Saturday, January 13, 2018 at the Rolling Oaks Funeral Home,
440 Freeport Pkwy, Coppell, TX at 1 PM.
