Ronald J. Szurek passed away unexpectedly from this life on Thursday, February 14, 2013. He was born in Galveston, Texas on September 29, 1945 and resided in the Houston-Galveston area his entire life. After graduating from La Marque High School and Sam Houston State University, Ron served his country in the U.S. Army in Vietnam as a 2nd Lieutenant and tank commander. For his service, he received a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star. He held managerial positions throughout his career in retail, retiring in October 2012. He was married to Peggy L. Ronald J. Szurek passed away unexpectedly from this life on Thursday, February 14, 2013. He was born in Galveston, Texas on September 29, 1945 and resided in the Houston-Galveston area his entire life. After graduating from La Marque High School and Sam Houston State University, Ron served his country in the U.S. Army in Vietnam as a 2nd Lieutenant and tank commander. Szurek for 30 years, who also recently passed away. Ron is survived by his children Edward Szurek, Tracy Skinner, Jason Knudsen, Michael Knudsen, their spouses, and seven grandchildren. Other survivors include his siblings Mark Szurek, Marsha O'Keefe, Gary Szurek, and their spouses. Ron's family would like you to join them at his visitation on Tuesday, February 19, 2013 from 5-8pm at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home. The funeral mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, February 20, 2013 at 11am at Epiphany of the Lord Catholic Community in Katy. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made in honor of Ron to the VA Hospital:
