Ronald Cupp Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Mar. 30, 2015.

Ronald Dean Cupp passed away at his home in Spring, Texas on March 30, 2015 after an extended illness. He was born June 23, 1934 in Wilder, Idaho to Cecil Clyde Cupp and Alma Frances Pruett. At the age of six, the family moved to Salem, Oregon, where he lived until he joined the Navy at age 21. Shortly after boot camp, he was sent to the Naval Air Technical Training Center in Millington, Tennessee. It was while serving here that he met Mary Louise Kennedy while attending a church function in Memphis, Tennessee. They were married April 9, 1956 in Salt Lake City, Utah in the Salt Lake Temple.

After completing a tour of enlistment with the Navy, Ron decided not to reenlist with the Navy, but enlisted with the Air Force. The Air Force took Ron and his family all over the world. The family lived in all corners of the United States and even in Iceland. Ron served a duty in Viet Nam in 1971.

After retiring from the Air Force, Ron enrolled at University of Central Arkansas, completing his master's degree in vocational counseling. As a vocational rehabilitation counselor he worked in Twin Falls, Idaho and Houston, Texas, where he finished out this career and retired in 1988. Ron and Louise have called Houston their home for over 30 years.

Ron was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He served in many capacities in the church, including Bishop, counselor in two bishoprics, branch president, High-Councilman, and as a full-time missionary working at the church employment center. He was a man of great faith and loved his Savior, Jesus Christ.

Ron was proceeded in death by his father, Cecil Clyde Cupp and his mother Alma Frances Pruett. He is survived by his wife, Mary Louise Kennedy, his children, Terry (John) Fennell, Sandra (Greg) Jameson, Ronda (Dan) Chatterton, Jeff (Michelle) Cupp, Mike (Korn) Cupp, and Russell (Monica) Cupp, 24 grandchildren, and 34 great-grandchildren, and his brother Gary (Sharon) Cupp.

The family great appreciates your acts of kindness and generosity and respectfully request that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Spring Ward missionary fund.
