Ronald Robert Poole, 67, of Jacksonville, FL, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, August 6, 2017. He was born on July 24, 1950 in Savannah, GA to the late Merrell Louis Poole and Maurine Claire Houser Poole. He was raised in Jacksonville and attended Wolfson High School before graduating from Emory University with a degree in Economics. On May 30, 1987, Ron married the love of his life, Janna Lynn Hedquist, and they quickly began building a happy life and family together. They soon had three sons; Ronnie, Will and David. Ron was President of Merrell L. Poole and Associates, Inc. He had the privilege of working with his father in the business for 40 years and had the joy of bringing Ronnie into the business to help him over the past few years. Lynn also enjoyed working in the office with Ron over the past 15 years as the boys got older. He was an assistant coach on the boys' little league teams and an avid Florida Gator fan. Saturdays in Gainesville were a highlight for Ron, his dad, and the boys. He enjoyed playing golf, but his time gradually filled with work and family priorities. Ron was smart, hard-working, patient, and simple. He valued collecting life experiences rather than collecting things. He shared those special places by planning trips for Lynn and the boys. He was an extremely devoted son, husband, and father. He was loved and respected by his family and friends. His love and gentle spirit extended to his dogs, Joe, Noodles, and Sadie.
He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Lynn; and their three sons, Ronnie, Will, and David; his mother, Maurine Houser Poole; his sister, Debbie Poole (Wes Hudson); niece, Lena Hudson; mother-in-law, Wanderleen Hedquist; sister-in-law, Marianne Hedquist McMichael (Lamar McMichael); and brother-in-law, John Hedquist. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, and their families on both the Houser and Poole sides of the family. Ron greatly appreciated the advice and support of his friend and employee, Gregg Wittenberg, and many other friendships with Jacksonville area contractors and engineers. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Ron's name to the Jacksonville Humane Society. He was deeply loved and will be greatly missed every day.
A visitation will be held from 5-7:00pm on Wednesday August 9, 2017 at Hardage-Giddens Hendricks Chapel, 4115 Hendricks Ave., Jacksonville, FL. Funeral services will be held at 10:00am, Thursday, August 10, 2017 at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Oaklawn Cemetery.

Mrs. Poole, Ronnie, Will, and David,
I can't put into words how truly sorry I am for your loss of Mr. Poole. I have nothing but fond memories of him and how he always made me feel so welcome in your home. He always made it so clear how much you all were loved and how you were his most important priority; exactly how a wonderful husband and father should be. Please have peace in knowing he is still with you and along side our Lord.
