BRUNSWICK – Ronald A. Anctil 70, of 46 Gundalo Gap Road died Tuesday November 11 with his loving family by his side; following his courageous 3 year battle with cancer. He was born in Lewiston on March 9, 1939, the son of Ulderic and Lucianne Lemieux Anctil. He graduated from St. Dominic's High School in 1958. While still in high school, Ron managed, and then purchased his first convenience store, Ronnie's Variety, which became a fixture in Lisbon for over 45 years. In 1972 Ron married the love of his life, Ann Poulin. Together they made their home in Lisbon for over 25 years. Ron himself was a fixture in the Lisbon community. Through years of working long hours at Ronnie's, owning real estate, and being involved in numerous local events, many citizens of Lisbon came to know Ron. He was involved with Lisbon Frontier Days, the Lisbon Business Association, and was a town selectman. Ron also operated the Lisbon Motocross for many years, adjacent to his home on Route 196. Ron also later owned the Lisbon Yankee Grocer. During Ann's years an officer of the NEA, Ron enjoyed traveling all over the country with her and entertaining fellow delegates and spouses. Ron loved dancing, he knew a good wine, enjoyed theatre, and he loved spending time with good company. Good times meant not only good food, but good company; from the dinner at Anthony's Pier 4 (where he proposed to Ann), to simple Sunday afternoons with pizza from Ronnie's. He knew that the people sitting around the table, made the meal wonderful. In August of 2005 Ron and Ann moved to Brunswick into their dream home on the ocean. Ron always loved having houseguests, hosting the annual Rossignol family reunion and hosting every family holiday dinner. Those holiday meals with his nieces, nephews and their children were special moments for Ron. In 2006 Ron was diagnosed with cancer. His brave battle had many highs and lows. His courage was unwavering, right up until the very end. Ron is survived by his wife Ann of Brunswick, one brother Gerald and his wife Patricia of Florida, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by one sister Lorraine Christiansen and two brothers Leonard Anctil and D'Arcy Anctil.
