Ronald J. DeLong, 78 of Dunnellon, Florida died on Thursday, April 25, 2013. He was born on Thursday, April 18, 1935 in Detroit, Michigan to Edward Blaine and Mary Louise (Pictruszewski) DeLong. Ronald worked for St. Mary's Hospital in West Palm Beach, FL as an engineer manager and moved to this area in 1991 from Loxahatchee, Florida. Ronald was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and served in the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the Southeast Cruisers, the Southeast Bus Nuts and the Soggy Bottom Bluegrass Bunch. He enjoyed traveling, bluegrass music and told everyone, 'to smile'!
Survivors include his wife of 36 years, Deann L. (Biggs) DeLong of Dunnellon, Florida; daughters, Tina Marie Albertson and Tammy Lynn Kelley and husband Derek, all of Ocala, Florida; son, Norm Allen Bishop and wife Rebecca of Tampa, Florida; brother, Edward DeLong of Georgia and grandchildren, Erica Ward of Gainesville, Florida, Kaile Scott of Gainesville, Florida and Aubrie and Austin Bishop, both of Tampa, Florida.
The family request in lieu of flowers donations be made to the North Florida Southern Georgia Veterans Hospital, ATT: Palliative Care, 1601 SW Archer Rd. Gainesville, FL 32608 in memory of Mr. DeLong.
