Mrs. Dimitry and family deepest condolences for your loss I first met Ronnie in 1954 when Ronnie was a freshman an I was a sophomore at Redemptorist. We both played football and became good friends, Ronnie was a real "stand up guy" if you need help and Ronnie could help you he would.
We lost contact after high school but, through mutual friends I was able to keep in touch with Ronnie.

I first got to know Ronnie while we were growing up near Coliseum Park, and remained friends with him through our high school years. We frequented the same neighborhood establishments in the Irish Channel, and around Magazine and Thalia streets, and played football together. I have only the fondest memories of our long friendship.

I first met Ronnie when he was a freshman and I was sophomore on the Redemptorist football team. He invited me to his home on St Thomas St. to lift weights in his back yard. His back yard had beautiful flowers. I witnessed a large “bug” sitting on a flower and told Ronnie about it. He said “It's not an insect; it's hummingbird”. It was the first time I'd even seen or heard of a humming bird. Can you imagine a humming bird in the Irish Channel? Lifting weights became a passion with Ronnie and served him well throughout his life. In later years, he always had the physique of a man 20 yrs younger. We hung around throughout high school and in 1956 he and I became charter members of the TAK club, composed of 31 guys from Irish The Channel. The Club continued for about 3-4 years then disbanded. In August 1986, a party was organized at Brother-In-Laws Bar and Restaurant on Tchoupitoulas St. Ronnie was an owner and helped arrange the party. That party initiated the reorganization of the TAK Fraternity in January 1987. The club is still active today with 71 members. I always remember Ronnie as a quiet guy; but when he spoke everyone listened. The caption next to his graduation photo in the yearbook reads: “He is a man that speaks his mind”. How true is that? Ronnie and his family will be remembered in my prayers. He will be painfully missed by his classmates and friends in TAK.

Jan & family - I am sorry for your loss. I graduated from Redemptorist two years before Ronnie but we hung out together. It's funny how some events just stick in your mind. My memory of Ronnie was a Mardi Gras party at a club near the river - F&M's, I think. Every year around this time, I think of that place, Ronnie and the gang and what a good time we all had together. My prayers are with you and your family. Ronnie was a great guy.
