Ronald Lee Scharfenberg, 71, of Colfax passed away Thursday June 12, 2014 at OSF St. Francis in Peoria. Ron was born July 10, 1942 in Bloomington to Leo and Tessie (Babb) Scharfenberg. He married Denise Woods in 1974. Ron was a graduate of Bloomington High School and served in the Armed forces. He retired from Bloomington-Normal Public Transit System where he was a bus driver for many years and always greeted those he'd meet with a warm smile. Ron enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He loved the outdoors fishing, camping and boating. He always looked forward to traveling with family anywhere around the country,...
Ronald Lee Scharfenberg, 71, of Colfax passed away Thursday June 12, 2014 at OSF St. Francis in Peoria.

Ron was born July 10, 1942 in Bloomington to Leo and Tessie (Babb) Scharfenberg. He married Denise Woods in 1974.

Ron was a graduate of Bloomington High School and served in the Armed forces. He retired from Bloomington-Normal Public Transit System where he was a bus driver for many years and always greeted those he'd meet with a warm smile.

Ron enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He loved the outdoors fishing, camping and boating. He always looked forward to traveling with family anywhere around the country, having recently traveled with his oldest son and family to see Elvis' home in Memphis. Ron will always be known as a dedicated son and father. Those who knew Ron loved him for his kindness and friendship he showed towards others and he will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him

Survivors include his sons: Sean (Angela) Scharfenberg of Colfax and Curtis Scharfenberg of Bloomington; grandchildren: Connor, Ella and Taylor; four step-grandchildren: Lindsey, Kaley, Michael and Jaedyn; sister: Shirley Fann of Riverton; many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparetns.

Visitation will be from 10am until the 11am Funeral Service Monday June 16, 2014 at East Lawn Funeral Home, Bloomington, Il. Interment will be at East Lawn Memorial Gardens, Bloomington.
