Rosalie Auveta Weatherford Butler
Seaside – Rosalie Butler, 89, passed away peacefully December 14, 2009 at Carmel Hills Care Center. Rosalie, born on July 11, 1920 in Las Cruses, new Mexico was the beloved daughter of Charlie and Emily Weatherford. She left her home of many brothers and sisters at age 15 to marry her sweetheart Ernest R. Butler on June 30, 1935. Ernie preceded her in death in 1999 after 64 years of marriage. She is survived by her four children, Bo Butler of Nevada City and his wife Kathy, Janette Clinton, of Gainesville, Texas, Orsola Charette of Modesto and her husband Don and Yolanda Heim of Salinas and her husband Gary.
As an Army wife, Rosalie traveled with her husband and children not only extensively throughout the United States but to France and Germany as well. During these years Ernie and Rosalie developed many lasting friendships and kept in touch throughout the years. Prior to Ernie's death, the butlers were very well known in the square dance world, an interest that lasted over 30 years. Rosalie was a member of the Faith Lutheran Church.
In her later years she was fortunate to have friend and caregiver, Jessie Simone of Seaside in her life who brought great comfort to her and her family.
Rosalie's favorite hobby was sewing. She made most of her square dance dresses and also made some for friends. She spent many hours making needlepoint tablecloths which she gave as gifts to her many friends and relatives. She was also an avid 49ers fan and never missed watching a game. Rosalie will always be remembered by family and friends for her gentle manner, kind words to all and her wonderful pies which she baked every holiday for her family.
