Rosanna L. Davis, 78, passed away Friday, June 10th at her home with her family by her side, after a courageous battle with cancer. Mrs. Davis was born June 23rd 1933 in Goodwine, Illinois, a daughter of Cordie and Alice Alexander Hawthorne. She married Newton L. Davis on July 30th 1955 in Dayton, OH. He preceded her in death on April 8th, 1998. Rosanna was a long-time resident of Beavercreek and member of St Andrews United Methodist Church. She retired from WPAFB in 1993 after 29 years of distinguished service as a secretary. She began a second career as a pre-school teacher at Aley CDC August, 2000. "Miss Rosanna" loved and cared for 400 toddler-aged children across the span of 11 years. She loved shopping, the Cincinnati Reds; reading, cross stitched many beautiful works for her family and friends and spent many hours making items for the church bazaar with her crafting co-horts in "Sew-n-Sew". She spent many happy times with special friends, Phyllis, Lurene, Betty, and Chris, all fellow retirees from WPAFB. She was a member of the "drunken posse" enjoying monthly dinners and ONE beer with her friends Julie, Elaine, Flo, and Deanna, fellow pre-school teachers from Aley, CDC. Rosanna was a devoted wife, loving mom, adoring grandma and faithful friend to many. She is survived by her son James Davis and wife Lynn, Mission Viejo California, daughter Sharon Ellis, Beavercreek Ohio, Grandchildren Kelly Vagi and husband Zsolt, Corey Alexander Dixon, Chloe Roseanna Dixon, Phoebe Doris Dixon and Ivy Evelyn Ellis, great grandchildren Melina and Dorian Vagi, sister Lauria Gross and husband Robert, special niece Jo-Ellen Johnson, numerous nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews whom she adored and best friend Mae Christine Watters, her 'rock'. Family and friends are invited to celebrate her life Thursday June 16th at Tobias Funeral Home, Beavercreek Ohio. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. with a memorial service starting at 6 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Aley Child Development Center or the Hospice of Dayton. We, her family, would like to give special thanks to Hospice nurses Erica, Karen and Danielle who took such loving care of mom. They made her comfortable, pain free and secure so she could pass away peacefully. They were her angels on earth. Condolences may be expressed to her family at www.tobiasfuneralhome.com.
