Rose Mary Cannistra, 71, of Oneonta, went to be with her Lord and her mother and father on Sunday, April 15, 2012 at the A.O. Fox Nursing Home in Oneonta.
Rose Mary was born on July 16, 1940 in Oneonta, the daughter of the late Fred and Mary Mildred (Hogan) Cannistra.
Rose Mary worked for many years at SUNY, Oneonta. She was a member of St. Mary's Church and Rosary Society as well as a Past President.
She volunteered more than 2,000 hours at Fox Hospital. While living at Nader Towers, she enjoyed the various trips she made with her friends. As a resident of Fox Nursing Home, she loved playing bingo and card games with the other residents as well as looking forward to celebrating her birthday and Christmas with her family. She also enjoyed her Sunday visits with her niece, Denise McGowan and her children.
Rose Mary is survived by sister Catherine Francisco and her husband, Douglas of Delhi; her brothers, Fred Cannistra, Jr. of Bainbridge and Richard Cannistra and his wife, Judy of Clarence, New York; her nieces and nephews, Vernon, Jeffrey, Brian Francisco, Denise McGowan, Colleen Gaydorus, Jason, Jarrett, Richard and Michael Cannistra and several great nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Thursday, April 19, 2012 at St. Mary's Church, 39 Walnut Street, Oneonta. Interment will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Emmons.
Friends may call on Wednesday, April 18, 2012 form 5 to 7 pm at the Lester R. Grummons Funeral Home, 14 Grand Street, Oneonta at which time her family will be in attendance.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the National Epilepsy Foundation, 8301 Professional Place, Landover, MD 20785-7223
Her family wishes to thank the staff of Fox Nursing Home and Hospice for the wonderful care and love given to Rose Mary.

We are very sorry for RoseMary's passing. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all. I remember the camping trips with Uncle Fred and Aunt Mildred and Rose Mary when I was just a little girl- seeing all of you brings back so many memories. Miss those times.
