Rose Ellen (Castle-Bates) Dean, age 80, of Kingsport, went home to be with the Lord after a long illness, on Wednesday, November 27, 2013. Mrs. Dean was a native of Wise County, Virginia. She was a homemaker. Mrs. Dean belonged to, and was an active member of the Women of the Moose. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lilburn N. Dean in 2001, step-father and her mother, Elmer and Myrtle Bates, a brother, Boyce Bates and a special aunt, Lula Dean. Rose Ellen (Castle-Bates) Dean, age 80, of Kingsport, went home to be with the Lord after a long illness, on Wednesday, November 27, 2013. Mrs. Dean was a native of Wise County, Virginia. She was a homemaker. Mrs. Dean belonged to, and was an active member of the Women of the Moose. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lilburn N. Dean in 2001, step-father and her mother, Elmer and Myrtle Bates, a brother, Boyce Bates and a special aunt, Lula Dean.
Survivors include her son, Michael "Mike" Dean; two sisters: Lokeel Mutter and Mary Sue Freeman and her husband Lewis; Special cousins and caregivers: Helen Dean, Frankie Joe Dean and wife Zella, Jimmy Dean and wife Judy and Mary DePew, along with several nieces and nephews and numerous special friends. The family will receive friends on Saturday, November 30, 2013 from 12 noon until 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of East Lawn Funeral Home. The funeral service for Mrs. Dean will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor J.W. Depew, officiating. Special music will be provided by Doyle and Shirley Castle. Interment will follow in East Lawn Memorial Park. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.The family would like to send a special thank you to the nurses and staff of the Mountain States Hospice for their special care and concern for Mrs. Dean.
